Minimalism Phase 1

Image
Minimalism is when a photographer captures one subject in an image. The photographer makes the subject very identifiable in the photo. In all the images above you can see there is one identifiable subject in it with a very simple background.

"The Last Girl" :Gottfried Helnwein

This image is of a young girl that looks to be around the age of 8. The image is a close up of the young girls face, which allows you to see each individual eyelash and see each strand of hair. The image of the girl is around the size of a 10 story building give or take. It's made up of 3 different sheets of latex or some sort of plastic, something that can withstand normal weather conditions. It's located in a urban/ industrial looking area. There looks to be some sort of factories next to the building where the image is. I think that the image is going to be seen by normal, everyday people. I don't think that it's intended for a certain group of people. The mood of the image is calm. The girl's facial expressions are kind of a relaxed/ blase look. I think that the size of the image adds a ton of meaning to the image. Seeing a little girl's face up in a city like that kind makes you wonder more about what the image is doing there. The title suggests th...

Old Photo Repair: Ballerina

I lightened the wall behind her then I darkened the pavement. I felt that the bricks on the wall were supposed to be light even though it looks like I didn't edit it. The pavement was to dark to make lighter and I felt that the picture would be ruined if I did lighten it.

Lost In The World

The General premise of the video is that phones rule every aspect of our everyday lives. We live in a society that idealizes social media and our phones. The video is very effective at conveying its message. It's a little bit dramatized, because not all people use their phone for good. They use stuff like social media outlets in order to share awesome picture and share ideas. I think the video is a bit of an examination, but also a cautionary story. A lot of the stuff is dramatized, but some stuff in the video is so true, like when the girl is all sad, but when she gets in front of the camera she's all happy.

Describing Photographs

Dream Walker It's am image of a guy sleep walking The guy is in a robe with a coffee in hand walking to a door in the middle of a field. In the picture you can see a guy, two open doors, a lamp, and a field. In the foreground there is just some grass and some what looks to be blooming  flowers. In the mid-ground there is a guy in a robe and two doors. In the background there are very dark clouds. The person looks as if he is sleep walking. The viewer's attention is focused on the two doors with light flooding out of them. The photo is expressive because it's very abstract and not natural.  This picture makes us think about a dream world.  It looks like someones really weird dream. The photographer mainly uses contrast to help show us this dream world, where the light and the dark meet. Where reality and dreams collide. He/She wants to express their weird side of photography. It seems to me that  this photo is trying to show the difference...

TED Talk Q&A

11.      Is it photography? 22.      Drawing 33.      The process of a picture ends once the trigger of the main camera is pressed 44.      This inspired him to flip and cause the process to begin when the trigger is hit 55.      Retaining the level of realism 66.      Looking like it could’ve been captured 77.      Photos combined should have the same perspective, type of light, and be seamless 88.      You don’t have to compromise with your own ideas 99.      He plans in advance to capture each piece of the puzzle over a span of months 110.   The only thing holding anybody back is their own imagination
